al netto dei costi straordinari per acquisizioni, utili trimestrali in calo ma superiori alle attese; nello stesso periodo il fatturato sale del 17% NYSE Euronext swings to loss after charges By Simon Kennedy, MarketWatch Jul 30, 2009, 5:55 a.m. EST LONDON (MarketWatch) -- Stock exchange operator NYSE Euronext said Thursday that it swung to a second-quarter net loss of $182 million, or 70 cents a share, from a profit of $195 million, or 73 cents a share, a year earlier. The group said the result was mainly due to merger expenses and exit costs of $1.21 a share related to charges for NYSE Liffe Clearing. Adjusted earnings in the quarter fell to 51 cents a share from 75 cents a share a year earlier. Analysts polled by FactSet had been expecting adjusted earnings of 46 cents a share. NYSE Euronext (NYX) lancerà nei prossimi mesi una serie di contratti futures, basati su indici Usa, latino americani, europei ed asiatici elaborati da MSCI, al fine di guadagnare anche negli stati uniti una posizione di mercato paragonabile a quella già detenuta in Europa attraverso NYSE Euronext Liffe di Londra The Wall Street Journal NYSE Plans To Launch Stock-Index Contracts MAY 27, 2009 NYSE Euronext announced plans to launch a range of stock-index contracts, the exchange's latest move to elbow its way into the U.S. derivatives market. The parent of the New York Stock Exchange, known for its traditional stock-listing and trading businesses, has been expanding into the markets of commodities, stock indexes and options, which are dominated by Chicago Mercantile Exchange parent CME Group Inc. The new index futures, set to begin trading in the third quarter, will link to MSCI Inc.'s benchmarks for U.S. and European stock markets, as well as indexes tracking Brazil, Russia, India, China and other emerging markets. The MSCI products would compete with CME's stock futures based on Standard & Poor's and Dow Jones & Co. indexes. At NYSE Euronext, the derivatives-trading business contributed 24% to total revenue in the first quarter, up from 22% in the previous quarter. Most of the volume was achieved in Europe. In the U.S., the exchange essentially will be starting from scratch. In September, the exchange set up a U.S. futures subsidiary, NYSE Liffe U.S., to house gold and silver contracts. It now handles about 10% of the total gold-futures trading, and much less for silver. NYSE Euronext beats by $0.04, misses on revs Reports Q1 (Mar) earnings of $0.43 per share, excluding non-recurring items, $0.04 better than the First Call consensus of $0.39; revenues rose 0.2% year/year to $1.11 bln vs the $1.13 bln consensus. le attese del mercato sono per un utile per azione di $0,39 e di un fatturato di $1,13 miliardi Earnings Preview: NYSE Euronext April 29, 2009 NYSE Euronext (NYX) is expected to report Q1 earnings before the market open on Thursday, April 30, with a conference call scheduled for 8:00 am ET. Analysts are looking for a profit of 39c on revenue of $1.13B. The consensus range is 36c-40c for EPS, and revenue of $1.10B-$1.17B, according to First Call. Analyst Views NYSE Euronext said that its average daily volume of U.S. cash products rose 24.9% last month, compared with March 2008. The company saw strong growth last month in its NYSE-listed and NYSE-Arca/Amex-listed trading volumes. Despite the increase in its trading volumes last month, several firms expressed caution about its stock. Barclays recently lowered its estimates for NYSE Euronext since the firm believes the company is facing market share losses in the U.S. and pricing pressure in Europe. The firm maintained an Overweight rating on the stock but lowered its target to $27 from $30. At the end of March, Pali Capital previewed NYSE Euronext's first quarter by initiating the stock with a Sell rating. The firm believes the company is continuing to lose market share, with its share losses accelerating throughout the first quarter. In addition, Pali predicts that the company's fees and market share in Europe will decline. The firm believes NYSE Euronext may report much lower than expected revenues and it predicts that analysts may have to reduce their estimates. Also at the end of March, Broadpoint AmTech initiated NYSE Euronext with a Neutral rating as the firm believes that the company's new initiatives will not provide it with enough growth opportunities. The firm set a target of $16.50 on the stock. Meanwhile, a German magazine recently reported that NYSE Euronext and Deutsche Boerse have renewed merger talks. The talks are at an advanced stage, manager magazin reported, citing unidentified financial sources. Deutsche Boerse declined to comment, saying in a statement: "Deutsche Boerse Group does not comment on market rumors as a matter of principle. Over and above this the company has no announcements to make." According to media reports and information from industry sources, the two companies also held merger talks late in 2008.
